Premiere: Kate Stein ‘Acapulco’
Kate Stein will release a new EP, ‘Psychworld’, later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Acapulco’ below.
Following the launch of her new label, 99FVR, earlier this year with the sizzling lead single ‘SNAFU’, the Australia-born, NYC-based DJ and producer returns with a new EP of heady and hypnotic club material. Spanning two original tracks plus remixes, ‘Psychworld’ sees Stein continuing to elevate her sound, which she describes as “late-night chill rave”, through bubbling synthwork, pin-point percussion and chunky grooves inspired by her adopted home of New York.
The title track is a proper squelchy chugger, with ravey acid house textures and a hypnotic vocal hook, whilst A2 ‘Acapulco’ taps into the bleepy, after-hours sounds of Stein’s DJ sets, which have taken her from Berlin and Brooklyn, to Tokyo and beyond this past summer.
On the flip, Lithuanian heavyweight Roe Deers steps up for a sparse, tripped-out remix of ‘Psychworld’, whilst Mufti & REMAIN’s rework reimagines the original energy through a moodier, chugging lens.
‘Psychworld’ is out 15th November via 99FVR. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Acapulco’ below.
