Premiere: Kamoun ‘Smooth Jump’

Kamoun will release a new EP, ‘Multi’, via the label he co-runs, Sketchy Lines records, next month. Listen to ‘Smooth Jump’ below.

The Brussels-based Algerian DJ and producer serves up five cuts of percussive club music inspired by traditional Berber music and British sound system culture. It’s a winning combo that will delight fans of the likes of DJ Plead, Toumba and the Livity Sound catalogue. It’s all deliciously minimal, with playful chirrups of bass, melody, and buoyant drums woven seamlessly around technoid pulses. From the lower tempos on display in ‘BubbleFly’, ‘Bull Run’ and ‘Smooth Jump’ to the nimbler flexes of ‘Baraka’ and ‘Siwtchover’, it’s an EP that displays the producer’s knack for subtly bubbling beats and mood-setting dancefloor NRG.

‘Multi’ will be released on 8th March. Pre-order it here.
