Make A Dance – Young Man

Following their win at DJ Mag’s Best of British awards last year, M.A.D Records kicks on with a new EP featuring the much fawned over ID, ‘Young Man’. Rather than a party banger, it’s a feathery light cool-guy groove with a unique sound, roomy and understated — and with a Moby-esque blues sample which echoes between the lines next to subtle acid undulations. The ‘Club Dub 909’ beefs up the bottom end and layers in some jazzy keys, while ‘Down’ brings a more direct groove with grittier textures. There’s a sense of restraint that leaves room for your own interpretation, and that elevates the track above mere tool status.
