PinkPantheress has been awarded an honorary doctorate in music from the University of Kent.

The university revealed that the UK artist is one of eight people who will receive honorary degrees at this month’s graduation ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral. The institution will name her a Doctor in Music “in recognition of her contribution to, and achievements in, music in the digital age”, University of Kent said.

Responding to news of the award, PinkPantheress said: “My whole life is side missions at this point, I love it. I am so honoured to get this, this is so cool.”

PinkPantheress released her latest full-length project, the mixtape ‘Fancy That’, in May, following up the next month with a performance at Glastonbury. She’s set to tour the record with a pair of shows at London’s O2 Academy Brixton in September, followed by North America dates through October and November.

Earlier this year, she teamed up with Shygirl and Isabella Lovestory for the single ‘True Religion’.
