New London festival, Risen, celebrates the ‘divine feminine’ in dance music

A new one-day festival, Risen, will take place in London on 9th April.

Running between midday and midnight across a number of venues in Hackney Wick, the event is billed as a celebration of “the divine feminine” and “an exercise in love vibration”. Programmed by a team of women from the local Percolate party crew, the festival features a 100% non-male line-up, which you can see in full below.

Names featured on the bill include Sicaria Sound, Ambient Babestation Meltdown, Hannah Holland, Girls Don’t Sync (pictured), Club Fitness, iona, Foundation FM, Tash LC, Mina, Ifeoluwa,  Mixtress, Angel D’Lite, Madame X, Eliza Rose and many more.

“Having worked for many years to help balance gender inequality across the electronic music world, I’ve always dreamt of putting together a festival that focuses fully on this,” said senior booker and event manager Kitty Bartlett about the event. “Thanks to working for Percolate, this dream has come to a reality and alongside Alice Franklin (Senior Social Strategist) and Maria Grzeszczyk (Logistics & Event Manager) a shared vision has finally come to life.

“Risen is a festival run by women to shine a light on the up-and-coming talent who work so tirelessly across the music industry, be that DJs, event managers, graphic designers, lighting techs and so on. It’s time for a new energy…”

Pre-sale tickets for Risen will go live on 31st September, with general sale starting on 1st February. Sign up for pre-sale tickets here.

Last year, Hackney Wick-based day festival Body Movements set a precedent for forward-thinking, multi-venue events in the area. Hackney WIck club Colour Factory recently announced its new residents for 2022, and a new weekly Sunday party, Crossbreed.
