Native Instruments announces new Z1 MK2 Traktor controller

Native Instruments has announced a new version of their portable Traktor controller — the Z1.

Designed as a portable but one-stop solution for Traktor’s mixing section, it features basic controls for two-channel mixing including a three-band EQ and gain per channel, two long-throw faders, and a crossfader. Mark two of the popular unit features three OLED screens, an integrated audio interface, and a dedicated stems layer for controlling individual parts of a track that’s loaded in the software. It also features dedicated controls for Traktor’s nine FX including filter, reverb, delay, and gater.

The Z1 can control four decks at once, with switchable layers, and its has two audio outputs — one for cue and one for master out, with the master provided by RCA and the cue by the usual 3.5mm. Elsewhere, the power and laptop connection is provided by the more traditional USB-A port, not USB-C.

While the Z1 is small, it uses lighting to tell the user if a track is about to run out, if loop mode is active, and other helpful feedback. You can also customise what the lights show to your own setup. They’ve even squeezed in some info about what stems are playing on the small OLED screens so you can blend between drums, vocals, other and bass.

The Z1 mk2 can be yours for £214. Visit the Native Instruments website for more info, and watch the video below to see it in action.

Native Instruments announced a new version of Traktor earlier this year, which includes the stem separation technology.
