Ms. Lauryn Hill postpones ‘The Miseducation…’ 25th anniversary tour with The Fugees due to vocal strain
Ms. Lauryn Hill has postponed all but one of the remaining dates on her highly anticipated ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ 25th anniversary tour. The announcement was made on social media, where the iconic singer, MC and musician explained she had “been battling serious vocal strain for the past month.”
In the hopes of making a full recovery as soon as possible, the final dates that were scheduled between now and late-December will take place at some time next year, with the exception of Philadelphia on Friday 25th November, which is due to go ahead as planned. No details have been released about when the delayed shows will happen.
Hill has been touring to celebrate the quarter centenary of her first and only solo album since September, alongside a reunited Fugees, the band she first gained worldwide attention touring with. In October, two dates were pulled as a result of vocal strain, and her most recent announcement explains that although a prescription for the anti-inflammatory prednisone had helped, this is no longer a sustainable solution.
Released in 1998, ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ earned the artist diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America, making her the first female rapper to receive the accolade.
