Massive Attack announce “100% battery powered” event day at London’s LIDO festival
Massive Attack will headline new east London festival LIDO this June.
The legendary UK duo of Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall will lead the line-up for Friday, 6th June, with a live show designed by Del Naja, United Visual Artists and documentarist Adam Curtis. The day will be 100% battery powered in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and air pollution, continuing Massive Attack’s dedication to concert decarbonisation measures with ACT 1.5. The Friday line-up also features Tirzah and Air, as well as Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist’s project FORENSICS, with more artists to be announced.
“To present London’s first ever 100% battery-powered festival day with a dynamic range of artists is an optimum outcome for us”, Del Naja said in a press statement. “History shows it’s often the combination of art and science that overcomes the greatest challenges we face, so it’s good to see LIDO take learnings from our ACT 1.5 event last year and apply those technologies to where they see emissions coming from. Clean productions beginning this journey to normalisation is good news for everyone, but especially for music fans that come to festivals and the local communities that live around them.”
The debut edition of LIDO Festival, run by AEG Presents like All Points East, will take place at London’s Victoria Park across 10 days this June. Previously announced headliners are Jamie xx (7th June), OUTBREAK Fest (13th June), Charli xcx and her “party girl festival” (14th June) and London Grammar (15th June). More acts and programming details are still to be announced.

In December last year, Del Naja disclosed that Massive Attack turned down Coachella 2025 because of the festival’s environmental impact.
