Marcel Dettmann announces first new album in 10 years, ‘Fear Of Programming’

Marcel Dettmann returns to Dekmantel Records this month with his first new album in almost a decade, ‘Fear Of Programming’. 

Set to land on 25th November, the record will arrive on digital and vinyl formats and comprises 13 tracks. Billed in the press release as a “reflection on the artistic process — the critical hurdles one has to overcome, the strive for originality”, Dettmann’s trademark techno provides the focal point but tracks span styles.

A sparse, minimal cut, ‘Water’, featuring Ryan Elliott on vocals, can be found below. Elsewhere, cinematic ambient and electronica tracks appear in the release, with the studio process also spurring the development of a live set as counterpoint to Dettmann’s hugely respected appearances as a DJ. 

The artist’s previous LPs — ‘Dettmann’ and ‘Dettmann II’ — appeared on Ostgut Ton, the now-defunct in-house label of iconic Berlin venue Berghain, which recently also shuttered its booking agency. He continues to hold a residency at the club, and was previously a staple at its predecessor, OstGut.
