Kitty Amor launches Defected imprint, Mahaba, with new single, ‘Solitude’: Listen

Kitty Amor is launching a new label in the Defected Records family called Mahaba. Listen to a preview of the inaugural release, ‘Solitude’, by Kitty Amor herself below.

The UK Afro house specialist will lead the new offshoot of the house music institution as it aims to highlight and expand the genre in the UK and Europe. The debut single, ‘Solitude’, lands on 17th November with a radio edit and extended version.

“I am excited to be creating a musical space for myself and upcoming artists to showcase our sound”, Kitty Amor said of her goal for the new imprint. “As a passionate tastemaker, Mahaba is an outlet to express the global influences of an ever-growing sound in electronic music without feeling boxed in. Spreading the message of love and care, Mahaba is a label that desires to sonically connect the world”.

Kitty Amor is also the subject of a new short documentary, A Story About Identity and Expression, Who’s Kitty Amor?, produced by Defected. It charts her music career from growing up in South London and clubbing as a student in Nottingham and explores personal growth and expression through music and DJing.

In September, Defected launched another sub-label called Yes Yes Yes with LP Giobbi at the lead. It’s also in the midst of a partnership with UK housing and homelessness charity Shelter.

Kitty Amor recently remixed songwriter Somadina’s single ‘I Saw An Angel On The Roof & Wept’, released in May.

The storied house label wrapped up its summer residency at Ibiza superclub Eden at the end of September — relive it here.
