John Digweed shares health update, thanks hospital staff: “No more IVs”
John Digweed has issued a health update after being hospitalised last week.
The UK DJ fell seriously ill, as a previous Instagram post shared by his management said, and was ultimately forced to cancel shows in Guadalajara, Mexico City and Dallas as a result.
Though no update has been given on the illness that Digweed suffered, he’s taken to Instagram to inform fans that he is on the mend. “No more IVs,” he wrote in the social media post. “I would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who have taken amazing care of me over the last 10 days. They have been truly amazing, especially when [I’m] so far from home.
He continued: “Thanks for all the kind words and support. It really helped me get through my time in hospital.”
John Digweed is one of the most influential figures in the progressive house scene, having topped the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll in 2001 and regularly featuring in it in subsequent years. His first-place win was celebrated at one of the early awards parties held at Heaven in London, where Sasha and Danny Tenaglia took the second and third spots, respectively.
He was recently interviewed as part of DJ Mag’s documentary celebrating 30 years of the poll.
