Jersey Club pioneer Tim Dolla has died

Tim Dolla, Jersey club pioneer and co-founder of Newark collective Brick Bandits, has died.

News of Tim Dolla’s death spread on social media last week, 14th June, though there are no details surrounding his passing have been made publicly available at this time. The likes of UNIIQU3, Nadus, EQUISS, R3LL, Kush Jones, Cookiee Kawaii and more have mourned the loss on social media.

“He saved lives with Jersey club. He definitely changed mine,” fellow Newark artist UNIIQU3 shared on Twitter.

Fellow producer Nadus wrote: “For a better part of my teen years into my early 20s this man and his best friends let a bunch of us in to their safe space and made it OUR safe space. No matter where it all took any of us it never felt like a big enough of a thank you.”

Tim Dolla has been held up as one of the founders of the Jersey club genre, linking up with Mike V to form the Brick Bandits in the early aughts. DJ Tameil soon joined the collective and brought musical influences from the Baltimore club scene along with him, setting the basis for would later evolve and become known as Jersey club. His biggest track is likely the viral ‘Swing Dat Shyt’. He also often released music under the alias Mister Foster.
