Janet Jackson announces ‘The Velvet Rope’ 25th anniversary reissue

Janet Jackson’s 1997 album ‘The Velvet Rope’ is getting reissued for its 25th anniversary. 

Out 7th October, the updated edition of the legendary pop star’s sixth studio album will include rare tracks ‘Accept Me’ and ‘God’s Stepchild’ among other B-sides, remixes and previously CD-single-only edits and tracks.

The reissue’s first “component” will feature ‘The Velvet Rope”s 23 tracks, plus the two rarities. The second “component” is made up of 13 remixes, including some club-focused edits handled by the likes of David Morales & Frankie Knuckles, Masters At Work, Armand Van Helden, Tony Moran, Jason Nevins and Tony Humphries. Many of the anniversary package’s additions will be available on streaming for the first time.

There’ll also be remastered HD versions of five of Janet Jackson’s music videos, including ‘Got ‘Til It’s Gone’, published to her YouTube Music channel. 

Earlier this year, the Ben Hirsch-directed documentary series about Janet Jackson’s life and career was released. It’s available to stream via Sky and Now TV. 

Streaming and full tracklist information will be available here from release day this Friday.
