Jana Rush announces new album, ‘Painful Enlightenment’, on Planet Mu

News

Chicago producer Jana Rush has signed to Planet Mu for the release of her second album, ‘Painful Enlightenment’.

The 11-track album comes four years on from her last, ‘Pariah’, which was released by Objects Limited. ‘Painful Enlightenment’ sees the producer experimenting beyond the footwork sound that dominated its predecessor.

“This album is not a footwork album,” Rush said. “It’s more like dark experimental listening music, an opportunity to be myself without judgement!”

DJ Paypal and Nancy Fortune both feature on the album, which explores Rush’s own struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts.

‘Painful Enlightenment’ will be released by Planet Mu on August 13th. You can listen to ‘Mynd Fuc’ from the album below.

The album will follow on from another footwork-related release by DJ Manny, ‘Signals In My Head’, which Planet Mu will release next month.
