Jamie xx, Romy and Oliver Sim reunite on new single, ‘Waited All Night’: Listen
Jamie xx has released a new single with fellow members of The xx, Romy and Oliver Sim. Listen to ‘Waited All Night’ below.
Taken from Jamie xx’s incoming new solo album, ‘In Waves’, set for release this Friday (20th September), the track marks the first time the trio have appeared on record together since 2017. The single follows an emotional reunion on stage to perform the track live during Jamie xx’s set at Glastonbury Festival earlier this summer. You can watch a clip from the performance here.
Speaking about the collaboration, Jamie xx said: “Thank you to my two best friends and musical siblings, Oliver and Romy. It’s wonderful to have the gang back together, working in new ways, working out new lives, I wouldn’t be here without them.”
“We’ve loved collaborating on our recent solo projects but it’s been a while since the three of us came together on one track,” Romy and Oliver added. “We’re so pleased that this was the place we met up again. Proud to play a small part in this long awaited, brilliant album. We’re your biggest fans Jamie!”
Out today (18th September), ‘Waited All Night’ is the final single from the 12-track record, featuring features additional collaborators Robyn, The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier, Panda Bear and Oona Doherty, Honey Dijon, and more.
Jamie xx has an Alexandra Palace headline date scheduled for 26th September. He wrapped up a ten-night residency at South London’s Venue MOT in May.
Jamie xx has rarely released solo material in the nine years since his 2015 debut solo album, ‘In Colour’. The ‘In Waves’ singles mark Jamie xx’s first new tracks since 2022’s ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN’ and ‘KILL DEM’, which followed 2020’s ‘Idontknow’, his first solo release since the multi–nominated 2015 LP.
‘In Waves’ is out 20th September on CD and in multiple vinyl formats. The deluxe LP will feature bonus 12” singles plus two exclusive new tracks, ‘F U (ft. Erykah Badu)’ and ‘Do Something’. Pre-order here.
