Honey Dijon shares video for single, ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ featuring LATASHÁ: Watch
Honey Dijon has shared a new video for her single ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, featuring LATASHÁ. The track is taken from her latest LP, ‘Black Girl Magic’, on Classic Music Company. Check it out below.
The video was directed by Cor.Ece and draws inspiration from visual artists such as Aleksandra Waliszewska, an artist famed for her “unsettling, sometimes macabre, and often sexualized paintings”. Speaking on the video Cor.Ece said: “I really want people to imagine what a muse would do beyond posing for a picture.”
The video was made as part of the YouTube Black Voices Fund, a program created in 2020 to acquire and produce YouTube originals focussed on the Black experience, directly supporting Black creators, artists, songwriters and producers. ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ is the second video of three Honey and Cor.ece produced together, following ‘Stand’ which dropped in April.
Speaking on the single, LATASHÁ said: “I’m honored to have an incredible creation with the muva Honey Dijon. The song is a powerful force, written for the people to stay true to their power and on their course. Beating to the rhythm for the heart, I am so excited for the world to feel this record.”
It’s been a busy year for the Chicago-raised DJ and producer, who recently won a GRAMMY for her writing contributions to Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’. Last month it was announced Honey Dijon would be taking over Southbank Centre over two weekends later this year for a special event called Honeyverse.
She is also set to headline Wilderness this year alongside the Chemical Brothers and Kerri Chandler, as well as play Neopop Festival in Portugal this August, alongside Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing and more. Honey Dijon ranked No.90 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll in 2022.
