Grand Theft Auto 6 is “well underway” Rockstar reveals

Nearly a decade after the release of ‘Grand Theft Auto V’, the next edition in the series has been officially confirmed by Rockstar, the company responsible for the long-running gaming franchise.

Confirmation that productions of the sixth instalment of the series is “well underway” follows years of speculation and anticipation on when it might arrive. No official release date has yet been revealed for the game though.

“With the unprecedented longevity of ‘GTA V’, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” Rockstar wrote in a blog post shared online. “With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered – and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.”

While ‘GTA V’ was released in 2013, a number of expansions have been added to the game in the years since to freshen it up. Among those were the introduction of the ‘GTA V Online’ platform and the addition in 2018 of a nightclub element that saw DJs such as The Blessed Madonna, Moodymann, Dixon and Solomun brought into the GTA world.

More recently, a number of artists have been invited to present and curate their own radio stations and shows within the game, including the likes of Joy Orbison and, in December 2021, Arca and Rosalía.
