Gilles Peterson and Brownswood Music have revealed this year’s Future Bubblers.
With a focus on Wolverhampton, Gilles Peterson and his London-based label have announced the 2021 class of talent set to take part in Peterson’s talent discovery and artist development scheme.
Among the artists confirmed as Bubblers this year are new wave R&B artist Victoria Jane, electronic producer Nowsm, cross-genre band Zenel and Norwich-based Tadi The Great.
Each year, Future Bubblers get paired with an industry mentor who is tailored to their individual needs and receive one-to-one production workshops from Ableton, performances at live Future Bubblers showcases, live session recording from the Brownswood basement, press shots and long-term support beyond in their career. Previous Future Bubblers include Yazmin Lacey, Snowy, Skinny Pelembe and Kayla Painter.

Future Bubblers
Victoria Jane – Victoria belongs to the new wave of R&B talent – she also nurtures new talent herself on Unity Radio supporting other artists’ journey to success.
Mentor – Gerard Cantwell
Ceeow – Thriving off community, the Manchester-based, Birmingham raised wordsmith is the perfect combination of Hip-Hop and Jazz finding inspiration from everything he does.
Mentor – Emily Kendrick
Nowsm – Drawing influence from Ambient, Breakbeat, House and Experimental music, his sound sits within the vast Electronic musical landscape weaving in interesting samples throughout.
Mentor – Alex Patchwork
Seigfried Komidashi is anarcho-Blackness, experimentation and exploration, dedicated to working with nature, sound, and space; drawing inspiration from the beauty and chaos of the world around us.
Mentor – Dan Hortiz
Tadi The Great – Taking inspiration from the laid-back vibe of his current residency in Norwich, Tadi’s distinctive musical sound sits between present-day greatness and unrivalled nostalgia.
Mentor – Alice Whittington
Plumm – The BRIT school graduate is a hybrid of vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, constructing mood-driven soundscapes and gritty timbres.
Mentor – Ali Raymond
Jericho Noguera – one of the most exciting upcoming artists in the West Midlands, Jericho is hailed for blending a signature Buckley-esk vocal with new-age inspired synths, and adding his own unique twist on classic soul.
Mentor – Charlie Millar
Shirker – Coventry born and bred, Shrikers upbringing has shaped her broad talent into something widely innovative taking further inspiration from Punk scene in the Midlands, which she is an active member of.
Mentor – Marta Salongi
Zenel – A Cross-genre band made up of trumpet and guitar player Laurence Wilkins, Zoe Pascal on drums, they use two synth players and a plethora of electronic midi devices as the instrumentation behind their sound.
