Field Maneuvers launches crowdfunder to ensure festival's future

UK festival Field Maneuvers has launched a crowdfunder to help secure its future.

The festival’s organisers have set a target of £40,000, which they hope to raise across the next four weeks. They say that the support is needed following a difficult financial period brought about by repeated event cancellations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Increased overheads, a move to a new festival site and the cost of living crisis have also heavily impacted the event’s finances.

While its eighth edition earlier this month did sell out, organisers have said there was a 30% drop-off in attendance on the weekend itself. This meant that less money was spent onsite during the festival, a key part of financing future editions.

“For FM to survive we really do need your help,” the organisers wrote. “We know times are tough and if you can’t afford it, please don’t even think about donating, but if you can chip in to this Save FM Crowdfunder, you’d make some exhausted and genuinely worried people very happy indeed.”

In exchange for donations, organisers can get their hands on a range of goodies, including T-shirts and limited edition bomber jackets.

One reward, which has already been snapped up, offered two tickets and an exclusive onsite VIP party at the festival’s pub next year in exchange for a sizeable donation. Another offered six attendees access to their own onsite portaloo at the festival’s 2023 edition.

This year’s Field Maneuvers saw the festival move to a new site in the UK, and host a line-up that included Octo Octa & Eris Drew, OK Williams, Overmono, and more.
