fabric’s 25th anniversary book announced for December

fabric is set to have its 25-year legacy celebrated in a new book, fabric – the Book, which will be released on 3rd December.

Written by renowned dance music journalist Joe Muggs, the 300-page book gathers over 100 personal testimonies from DJs closely linked to the legendary London nightclub, while Annie Mac has written the foreword, and Bill Brewster has contributed the introduction.

The book promises an in-depth look at fabric’s journey, featuring rare photography, archival images, vintage flyers, and some of the club’s most iconic artwork.

Cameron Leslie, fabric’s cofounder and director, reflected on the club’s impact: “Seeing that, even after 25 years, our contribution is still impactful in the London scene is humbling and is certainly something that motivates us to keep pushing boundaries, as well as supporting the community that surrounds us and has given us so much.”

For collectors, two deluxe editions of the book will be available on 17th December, each accompanied by ‘fabric 100’ mixes from Craig Richards and Burial & Kode9.

When the book was announced last year, the club invited fans to contribute to the project, with public submissions helping to tell the story of fabric’s birth, challenges and successes.

In a statement, fabric said: “Back in 1999, converting a derelict meat store in an unfashionable part of London into a venue seemed like a great idea. 25 years later, we are still here.”

The book, they added, is not just a history of the club, but a celebration of “the misfits and visionaries who made it happen, the curators and resident DJs who have kept it true to its roots, and the experiences of dancers on the dancefloor.”
