Everything But The Girl announce first live shows in 25 years: “No club bangers, no huge arena”

Everything But The Girl are set to play two small shows at London’s Moth Club next month.

Marking the duo’s first public live performances in 25 years, the two intimate dates will take place on 6th and 7th April, and will be part-acoustic and part-electronic. The duo of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt will play Everything But The Girl songs, as well as music from their respective solo careers.

Both shows were first announced to the duo’s UK mailing list, and have very quickly sold out following that announcement. The dates will follow the 2023 release of their latest album, ‘Fuse’, which was the first Everything But The Girl LP since 1999.

“We loved making ‘Fuse’ together in 2022, and we wanted to do something else,” Watt said in a statement. “And that slowly turned into a conversation about playing live again.”

Thorn added: “When we pictured how, we realised we just wanted to play a few songs — including some we’d never done before — in a small club. Front room, friends and family vibe. If the shows go well, we intend to do more.”

The pair previously performed live together in 2023 for a BBC radio session, but they haven’t performed for a public audience since an appearance at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival in 2000.

Formed in in 1982, Everything But The Girl had top 10 UK chart success with their hit song ‘Missing’ in 1995, which was remixed into a cult dance classic by Todd Terry. The duo were also nominated for MTV, EMA and Ivor Novello Awards during their original run together.
