Elkka announces !K7 DJ-Kicks mix, shares single, ‘Hands’: Listen
Elkka is next up in the long-running DJ-Kick mix series. Listen to her new single ‘Hands’ below.
Following on from Theo Parrish’s Detroit-honouring mix for No. 78, !K7 Records has tapped the femme culture co-founder to take on the 79th mix in the tentpole series. The 23-track mix features two new cuts by Elkka, ‘Hands’ and ‘Body’ with Jeigo, as well as music by Mark Broom, Dauwd, Paula Tape, Breaka, Hodge, Mark Pritchard, Shake, Patty Waters, Surusinghe and more. It’s out on 26th April.
“This is a really special moment for me because DJ-Kicks has been a formative part of my musical education”, Elkka said. “You have to just trust your own feelings. That’s exactly how I do everything – making sure that my music has my DNA in it and I feel connected to it.”
She added, “I wanted to make something that was euphoric and celebratory of everything I love.”
Elkka has previously released on Ninja Tune’s Technicolour label with the 2021 ‘Harmonic Frequencies‘ and ‘Euphoric Melodies‘ EPs and the more recent ‘I Just Want To Love You‘ single in 2022. She’s also put out music via Local Action and her femme culture collective’s label, like ‘Every Body Is Welcome‘ and ‘Full Circle‘ EPs.
