DJ Rashad ‘Double Cup’ 10th anniversary reissue released alongside ‘I Don’t Give a F*ck’ EP: Listen
DJ Rashad’s seminal footwork album ‘Double Cup’ has been reissued to mark its 10th anniversary.
Out today (8th December), the reissue features the full original album, as well as the Stevie Wonder-sampling bonus track ‘Last Winter’, which originally only appeared on the now out-of-print CD release. It also comes with new artwork by illustrator and longtime friend of Rashad, Ashes57.
In addition to the reissue of ‘Double Cup’, Rashad’s 2013 EP ‘I Don’t Give A F*ck’ has been reissued too. Originally just released before ‘Double Cup’, it arrived amid a flurry of records from Rashad who passed away in April 2014.
Originally released via Hyperdub and Rashad’s label, Teklife, in 2013, ‘Double Cup’ is viewed as a groundbreaking album in the footwork genre. “It was really like a posse album for the most part, [introducing] DJ Earl, DJ Phil, Manny, myself, Taso,” collaborator DJ Spinn recently said of the record.
The reissues of ‘Double Cup’ and ‘I Don’t Give A F*ck’ have been put out via the label Partisan. Listen to them below.
