DJ N**** Fox, Black Obsidian Sound System, more locked for Somerset House Studios annual AGM
News
Somerset House Studios is opening up for its first large-scale post-pandemic event next month, marking its fifth anniversary with its annual AGM event.
On 14th October, the venue will host a live set from Príncipe label affiliate DJ N**** Fox, while the QTBIPOC collective Black Obsidian Sound System will take over the decks for the night, joined by friends of the group.
The theme of this year’s AGM is the return of community, following more than a year of closure and cancelled events as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the first time, this year’s AGM will also see Somerset House Studios partner with neighbours St Mary Le Strand, located across the newly-pedestrianised Strand Aldwych. The Baroque church will host performances of ‘Latent Joy’, a new music collaboration led by Vivienne Griffin and Emptyset’s Paul Purgas, which will see them joined by invited guests.
The event will take place as a celebration of Somerset House Studios’ five years of operations to date, which, since its launch, has hosted 116 artists as residents, as well as an additional 12 artists undertaking short term residencies from Finland, Germany, Canada, Peru, Mexico and elsewhere.
