Disclosure release new track, ‘Arachnids’: Listen

Disclosure have released a new single, ‘Arachnids’. You can listen to it below.

Out today (Friday, 25th October), the track comes backed by a video featuring fans’ up-close and personal reactions to hearing the new cut for the first time, interspersed with footage of the insects that give the song its title.

The new cut has been released ahead of Disclosure’s Friends & Family takeover of Manchester’s The Warehouse Project tonight. They will be joined by the likes of Floating Points, Folamour, Shanti Celeste, Jyoty and DJ Boring, among many others, for the event.

Speaking about their new single, Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence said: “Creating ‘Arachnids’ felt like an ever-evolving creative puzzle of sound design and groove exploration. The project came together over many months of tweaking and adjusting the various sounds and vocals. Each piece was inserted without a box to guide me but all built around a 10-minute drum machine jam.

“For me, this is kind of like a diary entry of where my skills in music are currently at, in terms of mix and production. I wanted to ask myself questions such as: How far can I stretch and evolve this fairly simple drum loop? Can it go through almost multiple genres along the way? Do I need more than one chord? Can the kick be the bassline?

“So much creative freedom and nerdy moments in the studio for this one, but with the aim of still keeping the foundations and groove simple and concise. It’s not gonna be one you can sing along to but I hope some of you get a lot of enjoyment from it… I know I did.”

In August, Disclosure’s Boiler Room set in London had to be cut short due to unsafe crowd surges.
