Depeche Mode announce feature-length film, M, documenting Mexico City concerts
Depeche Mode have announced a new feature-length concert film documenting their three sold-out shows in Mexico City, which took place in September 2023.
The band played three nights at the city’s Foro Sol Stadium during the early part of their extensive tour in support of 2023 album ‘Memento Mori’, and the film, titled Depeche Mode: M, will offer a cinematic look into the trio of shows collecting footage from all of them.
Directed by filmmaker Fernando Frias, the film aims to explore the parallels between the themes covered on ‘Memento Mori’ and the connection to death and mortality in Mexican culture, a press release said.
Depeche Mode: M will premiere in cinemas later this year with no exact release date yet set.
Released in March 2023, ‘Memento Mori’ was Depeche Mode’s 15th studio album and also their first full-length release since the passing of band co-founder Andy Fletcher.
