David Guetta praises “incredible performance” of Tomorrowland team after devastating fire

David Guetta has released a video praising the “incredible performance” of the Tomorrowland team after they built a new main stage just a day after the original was destroyed by a fire.

Speaking via Instagram, the four-time Top 100 DJs poll winner said, “We always see DJs in social media and the media in general, which is amazing of course, but we don’t speak enough, I think, about club promoters, festival promoters, and the incredible work they do so that we can perform.

“I wanted to pay homage to the incredible performance of Tomorrowland. You all saw what happened, this huge fire on the main stage, and how in 24 hours they’ve managed to completely turn it around,” he continued.

On Wednesday, less than 48 hours before the festival was due to open, Tomorrowland’s colossal main stage was completely devastated when a fire broke out

The organisers promised the festival would go ahead, however, and built a new main stage in front of the wreckage, reportedly using parts from metal band Metallica’s tour setup.

“I wanted to say respect and congratulations and thank you for all the hard work of Tomorrowland and every festival promoter in the world, ’cause it’s unbelievable and we would never be there without you. We’re in this together,” added Guetta, echoing the lyrics of his new track with Hypaton, ‘Together’, which samples Bonnie Tyler’s 1983 hit ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’, and was playing in the background of the video.

Guetta will close Tomorrowland’s main stage tonight, playing 10.50-11.50PM CET.
