Daft Punk wax figures go on display at Madame Tussauds New York

Daft Punk are the latest stars to get the Madame Tussaud wax figure treatment in New York.

Like their real-life Daft Punk personas, the French duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s waxy likenesses are fully covered by their signature helmets and no “skin” appears to be shown. The figures are styled in replicas of secquined Saint Laurent Le Smoking tuxedos, as featured on ‘Random Access Memories’ promo material

“As Daft Punk and Madame Tussauds both share French origins, this collaboration is a testament to the innovation and artistic brilliance of those that came before us and the ability of music and art to transcend global boundaries,” Madame Tussauds New York executive Ben Shapiro said.

This is Daft Punk’s latest event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ‘Random Access Memories’. There’s been a reissue with previously unreleased music, a drumless edition, a five-part mini-doc series about their collaborators, another multi-part documentary series about creating ‘Infinity Repeating’ with Julian Casablancas and a ‘Memory Tapes’ interview series.

Last week, Daft Punk livestreamed their 2003 anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory Of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem to mark the three-year anniversary of their split.

Earlier in the month, a studio drummer who previously collaborated with the duo claimed a 2018 unreleased album is “supposedly coming out of the locker”.

Thomas Bangalter’s latest solo scoring project, the soundtrack for the movie Daaaaaalí!, is out now.

A representative for Daft Punk has denied rumours that they will reunite at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The exhibit debuted earlier this month with a French house tribute party with Maison Disco at Brooklyn venue Avant Gardener on 10th February. See photos from the event below.
