Daft Punk and Wendy Carlos’ TRON soundtracks get new vinyl reissue
Daft Punk and Wendy Carlos’ cult TRON scores are getting new vinyl reissues, out on 27th May.
The reissue package of ‘TRON – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’, ‘TRON: Legacy’ and its remix edition ‘TRON: Legacy Reconfigured’ marks the 40th anniversary of the first TRON film, originally released in 1982 and scored by pioneering composer Wendy Carlos. Carlos is also known for soundtracking Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and A Clockwork Orange.
The original TRON score from 1982 features music Carlos and her partner Annemarie Franklin produced using analogue Moog and GDS digital synthesisers, as well as orchestral pieces performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and songs by classic rock group Journey. The TRON: Legacy soundtrack — Daft Punk’s only film score — was originally released in 2010 and was followed by the remix album ‘TRON: Legacy Reconfigured’ in 2011. That featured reworks by the likes of Avicii, Paul Oakenfold, Photek, Com Truise, M83, Boys Noize and The Crystal Method.
This is part of a recent slew of reissues for the now-defunct duo Daft Punk. Earlier this year, it was announced that their 1997 albums ‘Homework’ and ‘Alive: 1997’ would also get new reissues. They’ve also been sharing material from their archives, like the video storyboard for ‘Around The World’.
