Critical Music’s Kasra launches new label with Tim Reaper and gyrofield releases

Critical Music founder Kasra has launched a new label, Best Intentions.

The new label will not be restricted to any single genre, and profits from each release will be donated to a charity of the artist’s choosing.

The first release will be ‘Raw Energy Movements’ from jungle torchbearer Tim Reaper, released on 8th November. You can listen to the title track from that below. It follows his collaborative album with Kloke, which was released on Hyperdub in September.

The second will be gyrofield’s album, ‘Flower Burial’, an eclectic release including acid jazz, house, techno and more that will be released on 6th December. You can hear the title track from that below too. The release follows their recent ‘These Heavens’ EP on XL Recordings.

In a statement about the new label, Kasra said: “After 20-plus years of Critical Music, I wanted to try something a little different. Best Intentions came about from a desire to put all the things I’d learnt running a label into something new that maybe didn’t have as many musical boundaries and could lead me down different paths of creativity and vision.”
