Carl Cox to play livestream this weekend in aid of Ibiza Food Bank

Carl Cox will be kicking off the first in a series of livestream fundraiser events for Ibiza Soul Food in aid of Ibiza Food Bank this Saturday, 12th December.

Ibiza Soul Food is an event series set up by Universe to support the people of the White Isle through the winter – many of whom have been left unemployed and with no income due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Raising money for Ibiza Food Bank, Carl Cox will join forces with Bushwacka, Syreeta and Mark Greene for the livestream fundraiser, which costs £2 for four hours of music. 100% of proceeds raised by the livestream will go towards purchasing fresh food coupons to be distributed along with weekly food parcels to 5000-6000 people in Ibiza every week.

Ibiza Soul Food aims to give something back to the local people who have helped to nurture Ibiza’s unparalleled music scene, many of who haven’t worked for over a year – from the bartenders, venue staff, and sound & lighting teams who are without work, to the thousands of small businesses that depend on clubbing and tourism.

Speaking about the stream, Carl Cox said: “Ibiza has been a 2nd home to me for many years. The island is a breeding ground of creativity, amazing friendships and incredible people. Some of these people now need our help in these turbulent times and I’m super excited to be part of the first Ibiza Soul Food edition”.

With the summer standstill hitting locals hard, Anu Shukla from DJ Mag travelled to Ibiza and investigated how the world’s best-known party island has adapted during the pandemic. She spoke to Tina Browning, Ibiza Food Bank coordinator, to find out first-hand about soaring demand for relief from the charity in 2020.

Carl Cox has been trailblazing a number of live streams throughout the coronavirus crisis. He was nominated for the Best Solo Stream Series in DJ Mag’s Best of British awards for Carl Cox’s Cabin Fever, and also headlined a live stream event in aid of World Children’s Day last month, organised by the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life charity.

The first edition of Ibiza Soul Food with Carl Cox will take place in virtual venue Woov on Saturday, December 12th, 21:00 – 01:00 UTC. Tickets cost £2.00 and 100% of proceeds will go directly to Ibiza Food Bank. You can get your ticket here.
