Batu launches new label, A Long Strange Dream, with new EP

Batu is launching a new label, A Long Strange Dream, with the first EP on the imprint, ‘For Spirits’, landing on 26th May.

The release comprises five tracks, running from ambient to raw, futurist techno. The release follows Batu’s January’s single, ‘Built On Sand’, and the Bristol producer’s critically acclaimed 2022 debut album, ‘Opal‘.

Sharing a name with Batu’s bi-monthly NTS Radio broadcasts, A Long Strange Dream marks a conceptual departure from his Timedance imprint. According to the press release announcing the label, it will provide a home for “spontaneous musical explorations”, allowing the artist to “follow curiosities and share his own music” via a different process.

“ALSD is a new no fuss imprint for me to throw out music I’m making in a variety of styles,” the artist said of the project.

Earlier this month, Batu was confirmed for the Silver Hayes dance area at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, where he will play a back-to-back set alongside Anz. Last year, he launched his own multi-venue event in Bristol, En Masse. Held in October, dates for 2023 are still to be confirmed.
