Avicii documentary set for release in 2023

News

A documentary about the life of Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, is currently in production, with a release scheduled for 2023.

Directed by Swedish filmmaker Henrik Burman, the film will look at Bergling’s journey from unknown artist to international EDM superstar, featuring never-before-seen archive footage and interviews with the late artist.

It also includes newly-produced footage, and interviews with family, friends and colleagues about his life and music, and began production in 2019.

Burman, whose debut film, about Yung Lean, debuted in 2020, said: “My goal is to provide an honest and new perspective on both the artist Avicii and Tim’s life. I want this to be a film that surprises the audience and challenges the public’s image of Sweden’s biggest international artist of today and, in doing so, also shine a light on what his music has meant to so many people.”

In June, Avicii’s hit single ‘Levels’ was ranked No. 1 among Tomorrowland’s Top 1000 festival tracks, for a second year running, as decided by worldwide public vote.

An animation based around the late artist’s hit ‘Wake Me Up’ was also shared by Google earlier this month to mark what would have been Bergling’s 32nd birthday.
