Armin van Buuren releases 113-track A State Of Trance Year Mix 2024: Listen

Armin van Buuren has released the 21st edition of his annual A State Of Trance Year Mix series.

Clocking in at almost two hours, the mix covers the tracks that defined 2024 for van Buuren as a DJ, taking in cuts by the likes of Adam Beyer, recent DJ Mag cover star KI/KI, Joris Voorn, Ben Gold, Paul van Dyk and van Buuren himself.

The tracklist features 113 tracks in all and also comes with an intro cut specially narrated by Moby, who urges listeners to break free of any self-imposed barriers and explore their full potential. The mix also sees van Buuren attempt to break free of the genre tags that might have previously defined his sets and mixes.

“Over the years, I’ve found that the genre tags commonly used to categorise music don’t work for me,” van Buuren said in a statement. “What matters is the sound and vibe they embody. Their soul, so to say. So I’d advise anyone who loves music to break down those barriers and embrace that different styles can be very complementary to one another. And I hope this A State of Trance Year Mix shows that!”

Moby added: “Even before we started working together on our new version of ‘Extreme Ways’, I’ve had incredible respect for Armin and how he casts his gaze beyond the genre boundaries. This mix album embodies that part of him, and I am proud to have been asked to narrate the intro for this year’s instalment of the series.”

The new set follows on from A State Of Trance 2024, which was also the 21st instalment of that particular series, and was shared in May.
