A new record store has opened its doors in Detroit.

Specialising in house, jazz, R&B and soul, Spot Lite is based at 2905 Beaufait St. in the Islandview neighbourhood on the city’s east side. As well as a record store, the 5,000 square-foot space also features a gallery, music venue and bar.

The space is the latest enterprise by Roula David and Jesse Cory, who co-run boutique publishing house 1xRun (one-time-run), releasing limited-edition prints and original artwork by artists from Detroit and further afield.

“This place is a love letter to each other, but it’s also our combined love letter to Detroit,” said David, who revealed the opening of the venue coincides with the day the couple met 10 years ago. Keep up to date with all things Spot Lite here.
