1998 documentary Hang The DJ returns to UK cinemas in May

The 1998 documentary Hang The DJ will make a comeback to UK cinemas in May.

Directed by twin brothers Marco and Mauro La Villa, the trailblazing film shone a light on DJs and DJ culture during its first mainstream peak, sparked by “the gossip and conflicts of the DJ world” and featuring appearances from Roger Sanchez, Carl Cox, Junior Vasquez, A-Trak and more household names.

The four-city UK charity screening tour of the documentary will stop off at Glasgow’s Film Theatre on 14th May, The Palace Cinema in Broadstairs on May 22nd, London’s Genesis Cinema on the 23rd and Manchester’s Treehouse Hotel on the 24th.

The screenings will feature either the original 35mm projection or a 4K scan of the original print. Proceeds from the screenings will go to With You, a drug, alcohol and mental health support charity, and Endometriosis UK.

There will also be Q&A events and panel talks to accompany the film events. Find out more via the Never Sleep Instagram here.
