Batu announces debut album, 'Opal', on Timedance

Batu will release his debut album next month.

Titled ‘Opal’, it spans 11 tracks and sees the Timedance label head continue to explore the percussion-heavy techno of past releases. Coastal landscapes and mineral matter are said to have provided inspiration for the sounds covered on the album, with Batu looking beyond the dancefloor-indebted material of much of his previous EPs.

Fellow Bristol act memotone provides additional instrumentation on the album, while serpentwithfeet is a vocalist on one track, called ‘Solace’.

‘Opal’ follows releases for labels such as Hessle Audio, XL and Livity Sound sister label Dnuos Ytivil. Batu’s last release, ‘I Follow Your Energy’, was released late last year.

The album’s out on 29th April. You can preview it via lead cut ‘Atavism’ below.
