Andrew Weatherall tribute documentary, Sail We Must, released on second anniversary of his death: Watch

A short film digging into the roots of the mantra closely associated with the late Andrew Weatherall, ‘Fail We May, Sail We Must’, is available to watch now.

Directed by Trevor Whelan and Rua Meegan of Grizzly and produced by Dublin-based creative agency The Tenth Man, Sail We Must: A Sea Story of Andrew Weatherall & An Irish Fisherman pays tribute to the much-loved DJ, producer and acid house flag-bearer who passed away on 17th February 2020 aged 56.

The 11-minute film travels from London to Ireland to tell the story of how Weatherall’s encounter with a fisherman inspired the signature phrase he had emblazoned on his arms.

“We can’t thank those closest to Andrew enough for allowing us to create this film,” said Eric Davidson of The Tenth Man. “This is a celebration of club culture, dance music, and the cultural ties that bind us all together. But more importantly, it’s a celebration of a once in a generation artist, Andrew Weatherall.”

The premiere of Sail We Must took place at The Sugar Club in Dublin on February 16th with a live discussion between Cian Ó Cíobháin, Johnny Moy and Billy Scurry about Weatherall’s connection to Ireland, also featuring a DJ set from Billy Scurry.
