Moog launches new docu-series on the early days of electronic music

Moog has launched a new video docu-series, focussing on electronic music legends and innovators. The series – called GIANTS – focuses on artists, inventors, innovators and engineers who shaped the development of electronic music, whose untold stories are being shared in a series of short documentaries.

The first in the series profiles Herb Deutsch, a lesser-known figure but equally important to Bob Moog, whose name adorns the legendary synth company’s HQ in Asheville, NC.

Deutsch co-invented the Moog modular system, a huge, expensive unit that pre-dated the Minimoog, which became the first consumer synth. The video explores the early days of the Moog factory, the legacy of the synth’s he helped invent and Deutsch’s “perfect definition” of what music is. Watch the video below and keep an eye out for more in the series on Moog’s YouTube channel.
