A new electronic music exhibition has opened at Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf.

Showing until 15th May, the first major music exhibition at the Kunstpalast, Electro. From Kraftwerk To Techno, celebrates the history of electronic music. 

From the pioneering instruments dating back to the early 20th century to the use of artificial intelligence in contemporary electronic sound production, the exhibition covers Kraftwerk, Detroit techno, Chicago house, hip-hop and ’90s rave culture. With more than 500 visual, audio and interactive instalments, the exhibition will include instruments, artists and custom-made sound generators.

Artists featured include Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier, Jean-Michel Jarre and Mouse On Mars. There’s also a staging of Kraftwerk’s multimedia performances. 

Free Digital Electro talks are being live streamed on the museum’s website every week which explore music production, early audiences, influential artists and the evolution of dance music over the years. 

Electro. From Kraftwerk to Techno. was originally conceived by Musée de la Musique, Philharmonie de Paris. The Düsseldorf adaptation has been created in partnership with Ralf Hütter of Kraftwerk.
