Kraftwerk are playing a festival on a beach in Costa Del Sol next summer

News

Kraftwerk have been announced as headliners for a brand new festival set on a beach in Costa Del Sol, Spain, next summer.

Cala Mijas is the brainchild of the crew behind BBK Bilbao Live, and will run 1st – 3rd September 2022, in the picturesque coastal town of Mijas, just south of Malaga.

Organisers are promising a diverse music programme, with Hot Chip, Chet Faker, Nathy Peluso, and The Lathums all confirmed at the time of writing. Domestic acts including electro-punks El Columpio Asesino, indie kids Love of Lesbian, and melodic maestros Sen Senra are also down to play.

The event has stated that it will work to preserve the local area and contribute to the surrounding community, while pledging to follow the guidelines for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, both in terms of production and the promotion of values. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday 1st December at 8 AM GMT, while a presale waiting list is already live with passes set to become available from 29th November.

News of Kraftwerk’s headline duties comes shortly after the German electronic pioneers announced a 24-date North American 3D tour between May and July 2022. The outfit were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, joining the ranks of some of the most iconic and significant bands of all time.
