The production on this one really caught my ear. Tonner, the indie electro pop alter ego of songwriter/producer Matthew Tonner dropped this gem a few days back and it was dropped in my email. As soon as I clicked play, he gained a new fan. As I read the press release I read something that fully made sense to me; the song was co-produced by a member of the bedroom pop duo SALES, one of my favorite recent discoveries. If “Criminal” is not Tonner’s breakout hit it will be criminally underrated, but I am sure this is only the beginning for the rising artist.
