Gorillaz ‘Demon Days’ turns 20: watch a full 2006 live show from Apollo Theater, Harlem

Gorillaz’ landmark second album, ‘Demon Days’, turns 20 this month.

Released in Japan on 11th May 2005 and in the UK via Parlophone on 23rd May, ‘Demon Days’ was the follow-up to the virtual band’s 2001 self-titled debut.

Inspired by a trip the group’s co-founder Damon Albarn took to rural China, the album — co-produced with Danger Mouse — yielded chart-topping singles in ‘Feel Good Inc.’, ‘Dirty Harry’ and ‘Dare’. It debuted at No.1 on the UK album charts and No.6 in the US Billboard 200.Since its released, it has sold over eight million copies worldwide.

To celebrate the anniversary, the groundbreaking group recently shared a full performance of a 2006 live show from Harlem’s Apollo Theater. Backed by musical contributions from Morgan Nicholls on bass guitar and turntablist Darren Galea among others, the hour-long performance also features in guest appearances from ‘Demon Days’ collaborators Neneh Cherry, De La Soul, MF DOOM, Roots Manuva, Martina Topley-Bird and more.
