Guitars owned by late Massive Attack member Angelo Bruschini sell at auction for over £20,000

A selection of gear owned by the late Massive Attack guitarust Angelo Bruschini has sold at auction for over £20,000.

An auction held last week by Bruschini’s family at Gardiner Houlgate auctioneers in Corsham, Wiltshire brought together a selection of his keyboards, amps, guitars, and other pieces of equipment.

Among these was a 1968 Fender Telecaster Thinline, as used on Massive Attack’s seminal 1998 LP ‘Mezzanine’, which went for £4,550, the BBC reports. Burschini joined the Bristol group during the production of ‘Mezzanine‘ and remained lead guitarist up until his death from lung cancer last October

Burschini was also a member of The Numbers, Rimshots and The Blue Aeroplanes, and worked with artists Strangelove and Jane Taylor.

The turnout for the auction included buyers from all over the world. “We hold four of these specialist guitar auctions a year and this was our largest to date with 1,879 lots offered in total and 90% sold,” Luke Hobbs, head of the guitar department at Gardiner Houlgate, told the BBC.

In October, Massive Attack announced the cancellation of a series of US shows, citing “unforeseen circumstances”.

Meanwhile, the group’s Robert Del Naja featured in a video online in which he reads a letter written by a doctor based in Gaza, as part of the Voices For Gaza initiative.
