Rare ’70s dub, reggae and lovers rock compiled in new Dennis Bovell anthology, ‘Sufferer Sounds’

A compilation of works by the dub and reggae pioneer Dennis Bovell is set to be released next month through the Disciples label.

‘Sufferer Sounds’ collects 15 reggae, dub and lovers rock cuts that the musician had a hand in, including his own tracks as well as others that he produced. A rare dub mix of Janet Kay’s iconic lovers rock single ‘Silly Games’, which Bovell produced, is also included. The material featured spans a five-year period between 1976 and 1980, and it has all been remastered especially for the release.

The vinyl and CD releases feature track-by-track notes by Bovell, while a Bandcamp exclusive ‘Tape Echo’ edition will also come with a 32-page booklet featuring an extended interview with the artist, in addition to a poster, badge pack and postcard.

The full compilation will be released on Friday, 15th November. You can listen to three tracks from the release below, and pre-order it via Bandcamp.
