Pioneering dubstep label Tempa Records catalogue is now on Bandcamp

Storied London label Tempa Records is now available on Bandcamp for the first time.

The pioneering dubstep and garage record label founded by Neil Jolliffe, who is credited with coining “dubstep” in 2002, and Sarah Lockhart in 2000 has uploaded its catalogue to the music sales platform. It’s perhaps best known for Skream’s 2005 single ‘Midnight Request Line / I‘, Benga’s 2008 LP ‘Diary Of An Afro Warrior‘ and the Dubstep AllStars series, featuring key label artist Youngsta, Kode9, Appleblim and more.

Throughout the label’s 17-year run, it released music by the likes of Hatcha, Benga, Horsepower Productions, Digital Mystikz’ Coki, Benny III, Truth, J:Kenzo, Cosmin TRG, Hodge, Truth, Magnetic Man, El-B and more.

For more on Youngsta, who was working with Tempa from the beginning, and the history of dubstep, revisit Rob McCallum’s On Cue feature from earlier this year.

Check out the Bandcamp page here, and liste to ‘Midnight Request Line’ below.
