TOKiMONSTA postpones album release and tour due to family emergency
TOKiMONSTA has postponed the release of her next album and cancelled all upcoming tour dates due to an undisclosed family emergency.
The LA-based producer announced the news on Instagram yesterday, 23rd September, in an emotional statement. “It’s with an insanely heavy heart that I have to announce the postponement of my album release and cancellation of my upcoming tour due to an extremely urgent personal matter”, she wrote. “I am pretty crushed to share this news with you, but I know in my heart that I won’t be able to give you the performance and energy that you all deserve.”
“You guys deserve me at my best and that’s just not where I am right now”, she continued. “I am safe and healthy but at this time, I need to direct all my energy to a family member who needs my support… What I’m dealing with right now feels more emotionally taxing and difficult than anything I’ve faced before, even more so than my journey through Moyamoya brain surgery. I hope you can understand how difficult this decision has been because I’ve never paused my music career before. I’m asking for privacy and space as I work through this…”
‘Eternal Reverie‘, TOKiMONSTA’s sixth studio album, was set to be released on 22nd November via her own label, Young Art Records, and supported by a 28-date North American tour, Billboard reports. The tracklist features appearances by Gavin Turek, Anderson .Paak and Rae Khalil, grouptherapy., Kaelin Ellis, Mez and Amaka. The Bandcamp listing says the album is now being pushed back to 2025.
TOKiMONSTA’s most recent LP, ‘Oasis Nocturno‘, was released in 2020 and accompanied by a remix EP series. Last December, she released her collaborative 2012 LP with Suzi Analogue titled ‘Analogue Monsta: BOOM‘ on limited-edition vinyl and digital platforms for the first time.
