Premiere: John Digweed & Nick Muir ‘Santiago (Sinca Remix)’

Following her contribution to Anjunadeep’s ‘Explorations 23’ compilation, and a starry-eyed January single for Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream imprint, the Montreal-based artist continues to refine her rapturous, progressive sound with a new remix of a Bedrock classic. Joining a formidable roster of artists entrusted with John Digweed and Nick Muir’s archetypal 2005 hit  – including Chab, Joeski and Hernan Cattaneo – Sinca sets out in search of those housey, hands-in-the-air highs, deploying warm grooves, powerful piano stabs and journeying synth work for her own cosmic rendition.

The track has found triumphant reception during road testing by both John Digweed and Sinca herself, ahead of its release this Friday (26th July). It will later form part of a remix package alongside an update from fellow melodic maestro Christina Lazic, arriving next month on Bedrock Records.

Speaking about the collab, Sinca shared: “I’ve been a fan of John Digweed, Nick Muir, and Bedrock for many years. A few months ago, I had the chance to record a 60-minute mix for John’s Transitions series and a week later, he messaged me on Instagram to ask if I would remix his classic track, ‘Santiago’. It was a huge honour, and I (of course!) accepted.”

“Remixing a 20-year-old song was exciting,” the DJ and producer continued. “When I received the stems, I heard all the intricate details of the original: reverby vocals, groovy old-school drums, and hypnotic synths. Also, the Spanish vocals really resonated with me as I am half Peruvian. I felt inspired to keep several elements while adding my own twist.”
