Mexico City’s Yu Yu Club reopening at new location in September
Yu Yu Club is reopening in Mexico City this September.
After its initial run in Colonia Juárez where it operated from 2017 to 2024, Yu Yu will return in a new location that was formerly a casino. The address is not publicly shared yet, but the press release reveals the new venue houses a cinema, and the club’s team plans to host screenings. Yu Yu’s website and Instagram are currently wiped save for the new branding and teaser.
Yu Yu’s reopening public party will be on 5th September with Laurel Halo, Loris and Seagit Arc. Its first month of programming features the likes of Daniel Avery, Marie Davidson, HAAi, DVS1 and more. See the full re-opening programme below.
Yu Yu opened in late 2017 at Calle Versalles 94 in a 120-capacity 19th century building with a Martin Audio Blackline X Series soundsystem. It closed abruptly in July 2024 citing only “adversities brought on by these types of projects”, with stated hopes to reopen “with more strength and enthusiasm” in the future, via Resident Advisor.
Yu Yu’s original space was key to energising CDMX DJ Paurro’s career, who DJ mag interviewed alongside her Recognise mix earlier this month. She will be involved in the new iteration alongside other affiliated DJs such as DJ Tennis, Nicola Cruz, Derretida, and more
CDMX community radio station Drama reopened in a new location this past March.
