Berlin queer collective Hypersoft release ‘Protect Trans Youth’ fundraising compilation

Berlin queer collective Hypersoft will launch their label this week with the release of a fundraising compilation, ‘Soft Power Vol. 1 – Protect Trans Youth’.

Out this Friday (12th June), the 15-track collection takes in new cuts by the likes of Angel D’lite, D. Tiffany & Dugong, Cromby, Adam Pits, eoin dj and more. It marks the first compilation release in a series titled ‘Soft Power’. You can listen to Bliss Inc.’s ‘Safety Cage’ below.

There will be a launch party for the release at Berlin’s OHM club this Saturday, 13th July, featuring a secret line-up. 100% of profits from the compilation and launch party will go to TGEU/Transgender Europe and Mermaids, organisations advocating for and offering support to trans and non-binary youth in Europe and the UK.

In a post shared to Instagram, Hypersoft wrote: “The trans community has been fundamental both to dance music culture and in the struggle for rights that all LGBTQ+ people who are able to live with a degree of freedom hold today. They are still the most vulnerable part of our community, facing unprecedented levels of hatred, discrimination, bullying, violence, exclusionary laws and manufactured moral panic.

“The situation for young trans people is particularly heartbreaking. The psychological effects of the current climate are devastating lives. The tragic deaths of young people like Nex Benedict and Brianna Ghey bring this into sharp focus and demand action.

“This time we are not announcing the lineup because we want you all to come and support the cause – forget about the DJs, they’ll be on the usual Hypersoft level, but that’s not the point this time. Everyone involved in the compilation has donated their time and work for the cause – and everyone who will appear at OHM is playing for free.”
